DANA, Helen Helen Dana, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, (August 29, 2009) with her loving family by her side. She was born in Proctor VT, on January 19, 1914, but made her home with her husband Malcolm, in East Hartford. Helen was active in St.

Rose Church, and was a member of the Ladies Guild for many years. She gave of herself tirelessly, first to her family and then to her Church. She will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion and her love. She was a lifelong Red Sox fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching the UConn Women Huskies. Helen's warmth and generosity will be missed by all who knew her.

Her gentleness and caring nature were the hallmark of her character. She always remembered birthdays and holidays and would never think of missing a grandchild's performance no matter how minor.

Some people are able to walk this earth leaving it undisturbed, yet we feel better for their having been here. Helen was one of those people. Her family and friends were drawn to her by her quiet, gentle and unassuming nature and all were uplifted by her presence. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Malcolm; her sons Robert and his wife Claire of Syracuse, NY; Bruce and his wife Natalie of Marlborough; and sister Erma Aquilina of East Hartford. She leaves her grandchildren, Tracy Fechter, Michael Dana, Meredith Krauss and Amanda Dana and seven great grandchildren to mourn her loss in their lives. Helen's family will be receiving relatives and friends at 8:30 a.m.

On Wednesday September 2 at the Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, 318 Burnside Ave., East Hartford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Burnside Ave., East Hartford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to St.
